On Hand July 2023

Hopefully you’re reading this propped up on a sun lounger having survived the Trinity term, but if you’re still working (like us) then at least you can take comfort that the weather has been so miserable in the UK that you’re not missing out while glued to your laptop!

The UK Parliament is now in recess until 04 September 2023, and the Michaelmas term for the courts doesn’t start until 02 October 2023. We can therefore hope that the relentless pace of development in data protection, cyber security, content regulation, AI and reputation management over the past year will abate to allow us all to catch up.

If you want to keep on top of developments, and anything you missed, read the latest edition of On Hand, our monthly digital newsletter covering latest developments in data protection, cyber security, content regulation, AI, reputation management, open justice, access to information and digital markets regulation.

Developments in July included:

  • The European Commission adopted an adequacy decision in respect of the EU-US / Trans-Atlantic Data Privacy Framework, and TADPF opens for self-certification

  • US Securities & Exchange Commission adopts rules requiring registrants to disclose material cybersecurity incidents

Each month, Handley Gill creates ‘On Hand’, our monthly digital newsletter, which is updated with the latest developments throughout the month. While the newsletter is intended to be in a readily digestible digital format, those who prefer the traditional newsletter format can export the newsletter to pdf. The July 2023 edition of On Hand can be accessed here:

We will now open the August 2023 edition of On Hand, so continue to check back throughout and at the end of the month to keep up to date on the latest developments in data protection, cyber security, content regulation, AI, reputation management, open justice, access to information and digital markets regulation.
