Keeping on Keeling

The Labour government’s Data Use and Access Bill has had its Second Reading in the House of Lords on Tuesday 19 November 2024, the first opportunity for peers to debate the latest attempt to reform the UK’s data protection laws. Subsequent to the debate, the Bill has been committed to Grand Committee. to scrutinise the Bill commencing 03 December 2024.

The Government has not (as yet) produced a Keeling Schedule, demonstrating the effect that the provisions of the Data Use & Access Bill would have on the UK’s existing data protection legislation, as set out in the UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations and Data Protection Act 1998.

In order to support our clients and the wider data protection compliance community, as well as Parliamentarians tasked with scrutinising the Data Use & Access Bill, we have sought to produce track change versions of the Data Protection Act 2018, UK GDPR and Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) demonstrating the impact of the prospective amendments that would be introduced by the Data (Use and Access) Bill.
